About Rye

Rye is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in England, in 1066 Country’s words, an “antient town” of the Cinque Ports. Climb the tower of St Mary’s for the views, see the Rye Museum in the 14th-century Ypres Tower, and walk Mermaid Street. From Brighton it takes about 1 h 40 to 1 h 50 by train, with one or two changes (National Rail).
