West of Hove, the coast runs to Shoreham-by-Sea, with its harbour and the historic Brighton City Airport, and on to Worthing. Above them, the South Downs rise to Chanctonbury Ring.
Shoreham
Brighton City Airport, the oldest licensed aerodrome in the UK in its own words, with its 1936 terminal and sightseeing flights.
Worthing
Worthing has two newcomers in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide, Tern and BAUJI.
Take the West Coastway train from Brighton or Hove.
The Downs above
Chanctonbury Ring, high on the South Downs Way.
Our advice: fly along the coast, then walk up to Chanctonbury.
