About The Submarine Museum and HMS Alliance

Part of the Royal Navy museums, the Submarine Museum lets you board HMS Alliance, where the crew shared bunks and almost everything else, and see HMS Holland 1, the Royal Navy’s first submarine, from 1901. Inside the submarine there are metal steps, low light and tight spaces; a lift serves the aft torpedo compartment. A waterbus runs from the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth; if the weather stops it, take the Gosport Ferry.
