Sovereign Harbour opened in 1993 at the eastern end of the seafront: four linked harbours, the Waterfront’s restaurants, and an outer harbour entered through twin 50-metre sea locks, which you can watch working. Seals are often seen in the outer harbour, and Napoleonic Martello towers stand on the beach. The number 99 bus runs from the pier and town centre.
