About Osborne

Osborne was the private home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who bought the estate and built the house as a retreat on the Isle of Wight. Visit the State Rooms and Family Rooms, the gardens and grounds, the Swiss Cottage, where the royal children played and kept their own museum, and Queen Victoria’s Beach. English Heritage opens it daily from 10am to 4pm (last entry 3pm); in winter the Swiss Cottage is closed and only the ground floor of the house is open. Red Funnel’s car ferry lands in East Cowes.
