Littlehampton Fort was completed in September 1854 to guard the harbour mouth, with guns, magazines, barracks and a loopholed Carnot wall in its ditch. Today its brick walls are largely covered by the dunes of West Beach Local Nature Reserve; view it from the paths and keep off the fragile dunes.
