Hastings is about 1 hour 10 minutes from Brighton by the direct train, about once an hour (National Rail). Between the East and West Hills lies the Old Town; on the beach at the eastern end is the fishing fleet; up above are the ruins of the castle, and two cliff railways climb the hills. St Leonards, to the west, is full of independent shops.
