About Gosport Lines: Bastion No. 1
The Gosport Lines were a chain of fortifications built to defend Portsmouth Harbour. Bastion No. 1, by Trinity Green, keeps its wet moat; the defences were never attacked, and parts of the old earthworks now run through the town’s parks and walks.
