About The British Engineerium

The Goldstone Pumping Station was built in 1866 to pump water for Brighton, Hove and Preston, with a second engine house added in 1876. Its boiler and engine house is listed Grade II* by Historic England, and the listing records one of its two beam engines as fully operational. It later became the British Engineerium, a museum of steam and engineering. The museum says its future has been secured by a private sponsor and that it is closed until further notice, with a reopening date to be announced on its website.
