The back story
About Sussex Cricket at Hove: the back story
Sussex County Cricket Club was founded in 1839 and is believed to be the oldest professional sports club in the world, in the club’s words. The County Ground in Hove has been its home since 1872; Sussex won its first County Championship in 2003, then two more in 2006 and 2007, in what the club calls “The Golden Decade”.
On a summer’s day there are few better places in the city than a deckchair at Hove, with the sea air drifting over the ground.
